This past weekend, Sunday July 15th, I had the opportunity to attend an album release party for D. Crockett’s Jesus In My City Vol. 1. The night went great. His dedication to Christ was shown through the way he set up the night, which began with a short worship set.
The night started with a very hilarious skit from the host, Dujuan Lott. He kept quite a few running jokes throughout the concert. Very professional. Very funny.
Danny CamachoThe first artist to perform was Danny Camacho. For a young man, he showed a professionalism that isn’t always experienced at hip hop events. He was able to do his set and hype up the crowd, which isn’t easy for an opener. He left the stage with the audience wanting more.
Andy LeeNext up was Andy Lee, who will be dropping his project soon as well. This was the first solo work that I heard from him and it was received very well. The message that he conveys is one from a true Christ following point of view. He presented a short Gospel message before he began his performance. I’m a fan.
Adam YungAdam Yung was next to perform. He said he was nervous (yea right), but was very personable with the crowd. He kept the crowd hyped the entire time. (With that said, the whole night was exciting!) Adam Yung gave a nice testimony of where he is and how he got there. It was most definitely motivating! Look him up for high quality music.
Finally on to the man of the night, D. Crockett himself! He started of with some amazing tracks off the album while D. Lott acted as the perfect hype man (note that D. Lott did his Ready To Die song during his set). D. Crockett demonstrated his love for Christ during the entire set. It seemed more like a worship time than a concert. He performed with such high energy that it was hard to calm down after the show. I think that if you don’t have it, you need to find a way to get his new album. Jesus In My City vol 1.
This is just a very brief review of an amazing concert put on by Christ centered artists. The Lord was truly glorified and the gifts of these artists were displayed. We all need Jesus In Our City.
